Lifetime measurements for neutron-rich nuclei around

چکیده
Nowadays it has became clear that the magic numbers are not immutable and they can change as a function of the isospin, due to the influence of the residual interaction between valence orbitals [1]. Such a structural change in neutron-rich nuclei is verified in the appearance of the N = 32 subshell closure in nuclei located just above the doublymagic Ca and this can be inferred by different experimental hints [2]. The B(E2) reduced transition probability, which can be derived from lifetime measurements, is complementary to the energy information and is expected to be small and comparable with single-particle estimates going towards shell closures. For the calcium isotopic chain, the spectroscopic information is nevertheless limited to the energies of the excited states, especially in the neutron-rich part, and almost no lifetime information is available.

Fragmentation of very neutron - rich projectiles around 132 Sn
We propose an experiment to isotopically identify and determine the production cross sections of residual nuclei in the fragmentation of very neutron-rich nuclei around Sn produced in the fission of relativistic U primary projectiles. These measurements will provide valuable information about a possible two-step reaction scheme (fission-fragmentation) to optimise the production of extremely neu...
متن کاملLifetime measurements within the g-RISING campaign at GSI
Introduction and experimental technique Recent experiments on the magnetic moments of μs isomeric states, within the framework of the g-RISING campaign [1] at GSI, have additionally allowed new measurements of isomeric lifetimes in the very neutron rich side around the doubly magic Sn. These nuclei, which are very difficult to study, were produced by relativistic fission of U. Thus, the current...
متن کاملGamma Decays in Neutron-Rich Nuclei
The nuclear shell model has been applied to calculate possible gamma decay schemes for neutron-rich nuclei, as well as various information about the individual energy levels within the nucleus. Comparisons will be made to experimental data if it exists. Information calculated about individual decays includes initial and final excitation energies, angular momenta, branching ratio, and mean lifet...
متن کاملStellar Abundances: Better Measured Than Predicted
If gold had been as abundant on earth as iron, it wouldn’t be as famous for its rarity. If a tiny screw in the cosmic kitchen had been turned by just a bit, iron might have been the one that was most rare and desired, but during the creation of the Universe the course was set differently. Clarifying what astrophysical conditions could explain the observed elemental abundances depends on precise...
متن کاملPrecision mass measurements of radioactive nuclei at JYFLTRAP
The Penning trap mass spectrometer JYFLTRAP was used to measure the atomic masses of radioactive nuclei with an uncertainty better than 10 keV. The atomic masses of the neutron-deficient nuclei around the N = Z line were measured to improve the understanding of the rp-process path and the SbSnTe cycle. Furthermore, the masses of the neutron-rich gallium (Z = 31) to palladium (Z = 46) nuclei hav...
